Beuys' Sleighs

Joseph Beuys’ ‘The Pack’ (1969) draws on his traumatic experience of being saved from a plane crash in 1943 by nomadic Tartars. It consists of a Volkswagen bus with 20 sledges, each carrying felt, fat and a flashlight. Much of Beuys’ work draws on this experience.

Beuys' Sleighs is part of Art Craziest Nation Inventory ,the on-line version of past exhibitions at Walker Art Gallery. The Little Artists (John Cake and Darren Neave) immortalize iconic artists and their artworks in un-manipulated Lego. The recreations include works of Warhol, Dali, Jeff Koons, Anselm Kiefer, Rachel Whiteread, Carl Andre and Yves Klein.
