I first came across the work of Sato Shintaro through his Night Lights series, shots that were taken in the streets of Tokyo and Osaka at night, brightly-lit streets without any people. A most sureal wandering through abandon places that are usually bustling with people. Thanks to Sean I just discovered the panoramic skylines of Sato Shintaros Twilight Zone. The pictures were taken by a large format camera (4×5-inch) at the area of mixture of residential compound with commercial neighborhood in Tokyo. He shot them from emergency staircase of office buildings or apartment houses and what he said about Night Lights fits aswell for Twilight Zone: "Remove the people: the purpose of the lighting is lost and only the glow remains - providing a glimpse of the streets we know well from a less familiar perspective."
